The Relaxation Trance
Relax and refresh yourself anytime you need to. Especially recommended when need to clear your mind before starting on a new task. This trance is often used to help the transition between coming home from a regular job to feeling relaxed and focused enough to start work on a project or activity of personal interest. It's also great at bedtime if you have trouble calming your mind enough to go to sleep quickly.

Plan a major project via an enjoyable imaginary interview--this brings to the surface ideas and solutions that your subconscious mind already holds. You can also use this technique to plan segments of a project that you may be finding difficult, or to help you transform how you behave in certain situations (e.g., the interview focus could be, "how did you go from being shy to being self-confident?")

Transform your inner critic into a friendly, constructive advisor. A harsh inner critic often is the cause of writer's block or other blocks to action; the goal is not to get rid of self-feedback but to turn it into a form that is useful rather than destructive. Use this trance a half dozen times and you should find the transformation has taken place automatically (but of course you can refresh it anytime).
